What is the CPAT test?
CPAT stands for Candidate Physical Ability Test. This test was developed by the Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness/Fitness Initiative. Fire Departments use the CPAT to assess the physical condition and abilities of potential candidates.
The CPAT test consists of eight separate events.
Event 1 - Stair Climb
Event 2 - Hose Drag
Event 3 - Equipment Carry
Event 4 - Ladder Raise and Extension
Event 5 - Forcible Entry
Event 6 - Search
Event 7 - Rescue
Event 8 - Ceiling Breach and Pull
The this test is a sequence of events requiring you to progress along a predetermined path from event to event in a continuous manner.
